The main function of a Data Concentrator Unit (DCU) is to continuously poll the metering devices connected to the same secondary substation where it is connected.

The retrieved meter data is stored in the DCU and periodically sent to the Management System.

Installation:

  • Location of DCU will be finalized to meet the specified performance criteria.
  • DCU will be installed at certain nodes such that the reception of the Signal is maximum, affirming the requirements of the specification.
  • Mounting of DCU will be on wall or distribution poles, or separate supporting structure based on the requirement.
  • Pole mounting/wall mounting will be done with proper galvanized iron flats/strip to pole designed for weight of DCU.

Testing & Commissioning:

  • DCU & Modem Configuration.
  • Performance test of the sensors, wiring methods and alarms.
  • Communication Test to control centre & time lag in data acquisition
